I am a chemistry PhD candidate (and over 50% finished: woohoo!) and I have been really contemplating the form of blogging of late. I enjoy numerous different things in life: reading, history, cooking, nail polish, and a few other hobbies. But, I have yet to find a medium by which I can share my passion with others. This blog is not just a reflection of things I have completed, but also a way for me to share what I deem is important to me in my life and living my life outside of the lab. The lab’s a lonely place for those of you who have no concept regarding what we do, so us scientists need alternative things to keep us going.
Moreover, I want to share my opinion as a grad student and provide a way for me to give my opinion on some personal, grad student-oriented, and other questions. Grad school is hard enough, yet having to conquer life and all of its complexities is enough to drive a person insane (literally, it’s a known factoid that most grad students will deal with some sort of mental illness during their graduate school time). But, don’t be discouraged! You will see the light at the end of that tunnel. You may need to dodge some really nasty professors and an advisor along the way, but again, it’s a short snapshot of what’s left in the rest of your life.
So, this blog/website thingy is my reflection on sharing what I love doing, along with some opinions and knowledge that has interested me.
I hope you all enjoy and if you have any opinions on additions to this site, do not hesitate in contacting me.
